Worship at CCA
We are a ‘traditional’ Anglican Parish. We use the 1962 Book of Common Prayer (the maroon BCP) as we celebrate Holy Communion at 8 a.m. each Sunday morning. This service offers a sermon but no music. Attendance is usually 7 to 10 worshippers. We use the 1985 Book of Alternative Services (the green BAS) as we celebrate the Eucharist at 10 a.m. each Sunday. This service offers a sermon. Hymns with organ accompaniment, Sunday School (from September to early June), and Social Time following the service. The scripture readings used at all services are those from the Revised Common Lectionary. The BAS is used for Baptisms, weddings, most Funerals, and most special services at times other than Sunday morning such as Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, etc.)
Musically we use an organ at the 10 a.m. service on Sundays and other special events. We also have a Praise group featuring guitar, mandolin, and percussion several times during the year. We are blessed with a dedicated organist and a congregation that enjoys singing.
The Benefits of Coming to CCA
We come to the local church looking for:
1. God's Healing Presence - found in our worship and in our praise.
2. Spiritual Nourishment - comes from many sources, including our worship and praise, our prayers, and in Christian Education opportunities.
3. Love and Acceptance - this sometimes-elusive entity is found in and through our fellowship opportunities, pastoral care situations, and social gatherings.
4. Beauty - this is found inside and outside our building. In part the result of God's creation and, in part, from our human efforts.
5. Family Orientation - this is found in our choice to worship together as a family, in the availability of Nursery and Sunday School programs, and in our numerous social gatherings.
6. Life Celebrations - together we celebrate the turning points in our lives: Baptisms, Confirmations, Marriages, Funerals and memorials.
